WASHINGTON (AP) - Ten new postage stamps featuring the U.S. and
state flags - including Alabama's flag - go on sale Saturday, on
the annual observance of flag day.
The stamps are the first of a series of 60 stamps to be issued
over three years featuring the flags of the states, the District of
Columbia and the territories, as well as the stars and stripes.
First-day-of-issue ceremonies for the 42-cent stamps will be
held at the National Postal Museum in Washington, and special
events are also scheduled in the capitals of several states.
The first set of stamps will salute the U.S. flag and the flags
of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, American Samoa, Arizona, California,
Colorado, Connecticut and Delaware.
The second set of 10 flags will be issued in September.
